Trouble
Tragedy and trouble disrupt Henry’s traditional New England family when Henry’s older brother is killed in an auto accident that also involves Chay, a fellow student and Cambodian refugee.
Henry wrestles with grief, racial tensions, and family secrets in the aftermath of the accident.
The Wednesday Wars
During the 1967 school year, on Wednesday afternoons when all his classmates go to either Catechism or Hebrew school, seventh-grader Holling Hoodhood stays in Mrs. Baker’s classroom where they read the plays of William Shakespeare and Holling learns much of value about the world he lives in.
Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy
Turner Buckminster hates his new home of Phippsburg, Maine, but things improve when he meets Lizzie Bright Griffin. Lizzie is from a poor island community founded by slaves, and now the town fathers want to turn it into a tourist spot.
